Work Experience/Placement Requirements

The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Healthcare Practice requires a minimum of 225 hours of work experience or placement in health and/or social care settings. Additionally, you will need to complete a Professional Learning and Development (PLAD) portfolio, which includes reflective accounts.

The Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Healthcare Practice also mandates at least 225 hours of work experience or placement in health and/or social care settings, along with a PLAD portfolio containing reflective accounts. In total, you will need to complete a minimum of 450 hours of work experience or placements over the two-year duration of the qualification.

 

Assessment

This course does not include formal examinations. Assessments are conducted through various methods, including:

– Presentations

– Case study analysis

– Portfolio development

You will also need to write reports. It is essential to dedicate time outside of class for research, homework, and group projects. Self-study is crucial for your success in this course, and lecturers will provide guidance on effective strategies throughout your studies.

Funding Your Study

You can apply for financial assistance with your fees through the government by visiting www.gov.uk/studentfinance. Support may include a Tuition Fee Loan, Maintenance Loan, or Maintenance Grant.

 

Tuition Fee Loan: This loan covers your upfront fees and is paid directly to your university or college. Repayment starts only after you finish your course and are earning £26,575 a year or more. Both full-time and part-time students can apply.

 

Maintenance Loan: If eligible, you can also apply for a Maintenance Loan, which is paid directly into your bank account at the start of each term. Repayment begins after you complete your course and earn £26,575 or more annually. For more information, visit www.gov.uk/studentfinance.

 

Maintenance Grants: These grants are deposited into your bank account at the start of term and do not require repayment. However, any grant amount received will reduce the Maintenance Loan you are eligible for.

The HND in Healthcare Practice is available on weekdays from 9:45 AM to 3:15 PM, allowing you to maintain a balanced lifestyle while pursuing your studies
