Assessment:
This course will offer you opportunities to enhance your knowledge and understanding through informal formative assessments. These assessments are completed prior to the formal summative assessments, which will determine your final grades.
Each module typically includes at least one formative assessment, allowing you to receive feedback from your course team. Formative assessments are solely for developmental purposes and do not contribute to your final module grade. They are designed to help you gain confidence and a deeper understanding of the module content and approaches to formal assessments. Students who do not engage with these informal assessments often find it challenging to progress through the Foundation Year and beyond.
Formal summative assessments usually take place toward the end of each module. These may include written examinations and various types of coursework, such as reports, portfolios, essays, and presentations. The grades from summative assessments count toward your final module mark. Assessment methods are reviewed annually and may be updated based on student feedback or input from the External Examiner. The External Examiner is an independent academic expert from another higher education institution, appointed to provide assurance regarding the academic standards of your course.

Standard Entry Requirements (Under 21 years old)
– Minimum of 80 UCAS tariff points or a 60 Credit Ofqual qualification at Level 3.
Applicants Aged 21 and Over
If applicants aged 21 and over do not meet the standard entry requirements, we will also consider those with life or work skills that would make them suitable for undergraduate study with our Foundation programme.

All applicants must undergo an assessment by the admissions team through an interview that evaluates listening and speaking skills, as well as writing skills via a personal reflection statement.

Fees and Funding:
Funding Your Study
You can apply for financial assistance with your fees from the government by visiting gov.uk/studentfinance. This support may include a Tuition Fee Loan, Maintenance Loan, or Maintenance Grant.
A Tuition Fee Loan covers your upfront fees and is paid directly to your university or college. Repayment begins once you finish your course and earn £26,575 or more per year. Both full-time and part-time learners can apply.
If eligible, you can also apply for a Maintenance Loan, which is deposited directly into your bank account at the start of each term. Repayments for this loan start only after you leave your course and when your earnings exceed £26,575. For further details, please visit Student Finance.
Maintenance Grants are also deposited into your bank account at the beginning of the term. These grants do not need to be repaid, but any amount you receive will reduce the total Maintenance Loan you can apply for.
New students must demonstrate that they have lived in the UK for five years prior to the course start date to qualify for living cost support from Student Finance England.
